Report: carbon footprint 2030 and renewable energy
Chapter one
Global warming and what it means for the Low Countries
The world is changing faster than our grandparents could have imagined. Retreating glaciers in the Alps, longer dry spells over the Veluwe and rising sea levels along the North Sea remind us every day of a simple truth: the natural resources we inherited are not inexhaustible.
The Netherlands sits at a unique vantage point. A quarter of our country lies below sea level, and our history is a long story of patient protection of land from water. We are now asking ourselves the same spirit of careful development for a new field: how we produce energy, grow food and design our cities.
Chapter two
The role of the Netherlands in the European green transition
The Dutch energy transition is no longer a distant promise. Wind farms at sea generate power for millions of households. Solar panels arrive on barn roofs, school buildings and social housing. From Groningen to Maastricht, neighbourhoods are working together to design heating networks that no longer depend on fossil fuels.
Under the 2030 targets, our country aims to cut carbon emissions by at least 55 percent compared with 1990. That demands public commitment, fair legislation and the active engagement of citizens. What stands out: support is growing. More and more people understand that protecting the climate also means protecting the future.
Chapter three
The future of agriculture — towards agriculture 5.0
Dutch agriculture has helped feed the world. Our greenhouse growers are pioneers and our arable farmers are reformers. The next step is called agriculture 5.0: a blend of precision cultivation, sensors, regenerative soil care and renewable energy. Drones map crops, rainwater is captured and reused, and farmers share knowledge through open networks.
The aim is no longer to produce more at any cost, but to produce more wisely, with respect for soil, animals and landscape. For our children this means: a living countryside, a transparent food chain, and development that does not come at the expense of what we hold dear.
A vision for a green Netherlands
The transition to a cleaner Netherlands is not a distant story for politicians and specialists. It is a daily movement of schools, families, entrepreneurs and municipalities. At Fundeloria we believe that honest information is the first building block of lasting change. Read on, share the story and be the first to know about the latest developments.
